These urls set a cookie on the buyers browser so we know when a buyer makes a purchase that you referred the sale. It is also possible if the merchant has enabled it, to sell items directly. By this we mean you market the product on your website and rather than including a link to visit the merchants site for purchase, you have a link straight to the payment pages yourself. This normally results in higher conversion rates but does mean that you only earn commission on that one item rather than potentially several if you sent the buyer to the merchants website.
