About WebFaction
WebFaction is migrating to tsoHost. tsoHost and WebFaction are a part of Paragon Internet Group Limited. tsoHost is a UK provider of hosting, domains, email, VPS and dedicated servers. They have planned the migration to roll out in two major phases. As you migrate to tsoHost, here is what to expect: Customer profile (name and contact details) information from WebFaction will be used to create your account on tsoHost. Your websites and email will migrate from WebFaction to tsoHost. As a new tsoHost customer, all your hosting, billing, and support will now come through tsoHost. Once your new account is created you will need to login to tsoHost and add payment details for service continuation.

If we are unable to migrate your account, you will receive a separate communication with further details. Before work begins, we’ll email you the latest information and include details on the steps and processes involved. Further purchases through WebFaction will be unavailable after 14 October 2020. Migrations will start in November 2020 and continue until the end of July 2021.

What happens if site can not be migrated?
WebFaction will attempt to migrate all websites, though some sites may not migrate successfully due to the features used on a site not being compatible with the new hosting platform. In these cases we will contact you with options.
Migration Failure
Depending on the reason for migration failure you may be able to adjust your site requirements to enable a successful migration. Where this is not possible you will need to find an alternative provider that supports your sites individual specialist requirements. The will send you a notification as soon as your migration fails with further information providing a minimum 30 day period before your WebFaction hosting is disabled.
Which features will not be available through tsoHost when migrated from WebFaction?

- No IPv6 support

- Automatic renewal for Let’s Encrypt SSL (can be manually renewed)
- Applications: CherryPy, Custom Applications, Passenger, PHP below 5.6, Pylons, Pyramid, Rails applications, Redmine, Trac, Turbogears, Twisted, Zope
- Others: Email Mailing lists, Ghost, Gitea, Node.js, Subversion
Support
WebFaction strongly urge you to contact the customer service team to opt-out of migration and start looking at migrating your hosting to another suitable product potentially a VPS where you have control to add these features, adapt your site to not utilise those features, or to move to another specialist supplier.
Hosting Package
The WebFaction team is working closely with the tsoHost team with a joint task-force to automate the migration of your hosting from WebFaction to tsoHost. The migration process starts by taking a snapshot of your site, copying the content to a test account on the new platform and comparing the results to see if the site looks the same and operates. This is closely monitored and reviewed by our team of operators that specialise in delivering successful migrations. Not all sites can be successfully migrated using our automatic tooling. For some, we will need to manually intervene to see if a solution can be found. If no solution is found, will not be able to migrate the hosting and will turn this off at the end of the migration process when the platform is decommissioned. The WebFaction support team will assist you to export all content for you to move to a provider that does offer the specialist features your site needs.
